Getting It Fixed

Once you’ve identified any defects that need to be fixed, you should make a list of needed repairs and estimated costs and present them to the seller as part of your price negotiations. If you receive a credit at the time of closing for repairs the seller didn’t make, don’t use it to offset the completion costs, which most buyers do.

Instead, use the money to make key repairs as soon as possible.

Neglecting a small defect now can end up costing you a fortune in the months ahead.
